Hand 1: 49.8981 % [ 00.45 00.05 ] { AhKh }
Hand 2: 50.1019 % [ 00.45 00.05 ] { AA-22, AKs-AQs, AKo-AQo } Even if he just does this with a PP, AK, or AQ, this is basically +EV due to the blinds + two posts. Now factor in he is a LAG, shortstacked, and not too bright, don't you think this is an auto call? BTW, if we make his preflop range a little tighter for his pairs, like AA-88 (what he actually pushed), my equity actually goes up because the combinations for AQ go up as a % vs the coinflips. Hand 1: 50.7701 % [ 00.43 00.08 ] { AhKh } Hand 2: 49.2299 % [ 00.42 00.08 ] { AA-88, AKs-AQs, AKo-AQo } |

It's fine, I'm not trying to say you made a mistake. It's so close it probably doesn't matter... long term maybe 0 EV. I just fold though because of what my gut tells me, usually a PP.

everyday the more posts i see, the more they seem like jokes to me. [/ QUOTE ] I resemble that remark ... [ QUOTE ] donks don't push when they've got the stuff but they'll throw it all in on a total bluff. that being said, you have ace king, and he could have anything. way too often you will have him dominated, if you fold in this spot you should be berated. so push your chips in and expect a flip, spike a pair and throw the dealer a tip. [/ QUOTE ] I like getting my money in against the donks with a much better advantage than ~ 1:1. If I want to play for coin flips, I can play roulette and bet on black. I think calling everytime here is really neutral EV long term rather than +EV. Most times I see this from short stacks, its either AK or a pocket pair (like 88, or something). It's not a tournament. I'll wait for a better chance. |

I agree. I think cash games is definately about waiting for the right spot. However, what I agree with and would have done if I were in the situation is different. I don't give villian enough respect as a LAG; I would have insta-called. The better play is probably to fold here though, because the EV is so small, and you're not pot-commited at all, you just have a very strong starting hand. This leads me to wonder though, if not with this hand... then what hand would you call with? JJ-AA?

Easy, easy, easy insta call, especially because there are two people at the table with $1500+.

I feel better calling with AKs here than JJ even though I generally prefer the jacks as a startinghand.
The reason of course is that it's much bigger risk to be a Huge underdog with two Jacks than AKs. You can on the other hand be a Huge favourite against a pair lower than the jacks. |

Why do the big stacks influence your play here?

Why do the big stacks influence your play here? [/ QUOTE ] Because if I double up through them, I want to double up for a lot, not just $400. |

The only reason I call here is because he's shortstacked, and you have him covered nicely. If thats an equal-money stack doing it, I fold.
If this was a tournament, I'd call it in a heartbeat, regardless of his stack. |
