[ QUOTE ]
Cheapest nicest chips. You can label them I have done it they look great and the labels created zero spinners Much better than 11.5 chips http://www.5stardeal.com/deals/10Exp...ctCode=10-1600 [/ QUOTE ] These are supposed to be the best for the buck. I was going on look and not so much sound and feel for this guy. Also, I kinda like the Nexgen chips. |

Re: Newb post-are these chips good? LC
Please do not confuse these chips with "casino" or casino quality" chips that go for a buck or more. Those are Paulsons and are one of the very few chips that can be truly considered "clay". They are worth every penny, but are still expensive for the casual home player. Nexgens are great chips for the money, however...but cannot be compared to clay chips.

Re: Newb post-are these chips good? LC
Does 5stardeal.com have the best deal on paulson's? I've noticed ebay is actually slightly higher than the $.99 at 5star.

Re: Newb post-are these chips good? LC
5stardeal.com should have the lowest price. In fact, these chips are known as the "Trademark" Paulsons because Trademark Services Inc. is the company who commissioned this design through Paulson, and Trademark owns 5stardeal.com. Actually, ANY site selling the "Trademark" chips, also known as "classic" gets them through Trademark/5stardeal.

Re: Newb post-are these chips good? LC
Shadow, if I can jump in late with a couple of recommendations.
First of all, you should check out the reviews at www.chiptalk.net, it's a site dedicated to chips. Second, when you say you want chips, what do you mean? ANY chip works as well as ANY other chip as a surrogate for money in a poker game. The original chips you chose, the "Dice" are fine for this purpose. However, they don't stack as well as some others, aren't as easy to shuffle, and make a metallic 'clink' sound when you drop them due to a metallic slug in the middle of the chip. Nexgens are definately a step up. They still have the metallic sound, but not as pronounced as the Dice chips. The biggest advantage to these is that the center is recessed so they are easy to use for labels, and the edge spots look like casino chips. However, they still feel plasticy The "Sopranos" and the "Faux Clay" chips recommended by others are particularly in favor as low cost chips (cheaper than either nex gen or dice. FWIW, I went with the Faux Clay. I love the feel, and sound. However, these are too "Plain Jane" for some. If you haven't bought yet, I'd recommend a sample set so you can feel for yourself. |
