LMAO

It happened to me twice. I played for 2 hours. And I was winning huge. I won 3 times my stack. And then I lost a huge pot with nut low. I realised that the game was hi only... haha after two hours.

You should have posted this in the Omaha forum where it would be appreciated. I've done it a few times-- played for an hour and been up, and even thought I scooped a few pots with the nut low and low straight, only to get scratch my head when I lose a big pot with the nut-low, and quietly leave the table. It is not so hard to do if you multi-table and especially if you play Pot Limit where a minority of hands actually get shown down.

I'm not an Omaha player (high or H/L) but is there any reason why you didn't raise at some point with a solid low hand as well as a draw at the high?

Guess I'll try and throw a little strategy into an otherwise hilarious thread. Total Omaha noob so flame away if I'm out of line here.

I'm a truly bad O/8 player as well, and have never played limit, but anyway:

OP only has second low, and O/8 is a game of nuts to a much higher extent than Holdem. Also, in a split pot game when you aim for only half the pot, the odds are distorted. If you lose, you lose all your bet (as usual), but if you win, you only win half.

Assume three players in the pot. You bet, both call. If you do win the low, you gain net 0.5 BB. If you lose, you lose 1 BB. And you may even win, but be quartered, in which case you actually lose money overall on your bet!

Btw, the original post truly is POTY so far. I do laugh out loud at posts on occassion, but this one had me chuckling for hours afterwards.

(I will confess that I have made the same stupid mistake. But I haven't posted about it in an ignorant way. There are, or should be, limits to stupidity...)
