Re: A few quick PF questions
ok, time to start posting here. might as well start off with a quiz.
1. call 2. probably some of each, will probably consider opposition here (want loose/passive BB and LAG CO/button, obviously). I am guessing the people who said 3-bet misread the hand and missed the CC (as i did at first glance). 3. Have been going back and forth on this sort of spot myself, actually. Leaning toward calling. 4. This seems like the easiest call, surprised to see a couple people recommend folding here. Ya, sometimes you are dominated, but you have straight and flush potential in addition to your 2 high cards. -muz |

Re: A few quick PF questions
All of my answers are based on villian being your average party 6-max LAG.
1) Call. In the past I probably would have folded this, but as I get more accustomed to HUSH play, I am learning that calling is the correct play. 2) Call. 3-betting with 77 is a consideration, but over the long run one is probably fine sticking with a call. 3) I will fold this since the SB called. K8o is fairly weak and while it might be decent for a blind defense heads up, I let the sb take the bullet here. 4) 3-bet. KTs is the kung-fu master of starting hands. |

Re: A few quick PF questions
I'd like to hear why you want to play 77 against probably exactly two other hands while out of position . . .

Re: A few quick PF questions
well, in terms of pot odds you are getting 1.5:5.5 or 1.5:6.5, depending on whether or not the bb calls. This is about the same as overlimping a small pair after 2 limpers, where you are laying 1:3.5 or 1:4, depending on the sb action.
In terms of implied odds, the comparison is out of positon vs a preflop raiser and a cold-caller or with position vs blinds and limpers. The former is clearly better, but the pot is almost twice as big, so you have to make more to cover the gap. Again, perhaps a tossup. So this play is comparable to limping a small pair after 2 limpers. Not hugely +EV, but playable. -muz |

Re: A few quick PF questions
#3 is the only one i am curious about... (the other 3 i agree with most of the consensus here). i usually fold K8o; you don't have much of an option if you don't flop an 8 or a K right? do you fold this to a button raise, and SB fold?

Re: A few quick PF questions
1) Call
2) Edit: Call. Didn't see the coldcaller the first time. 3) Call. Sometimes reraise if button has shown to be lay down to a 3-bet and then flop bet. 4) Call. |

Re: A few quick PF questions
I only read the posts about playing more hands preflop and the posts about 300 BB downswings. The postflop posts are too complicated.
