Re: Flopping an over pair 99 - Who is right..... me or my brother??
Just my opinion, but I think in the long run you're going to end up losing a lot more money calling a huge bet with a pair of 9's than you're ever going to make. Good fold

This is an instant fold.
For that matter, I would have folded to the reraise and call preflop. They may have both had you beaten already. |

You had two outs...good fold [/ QUOTE ] Ditto. [ QUOTE ] For that matter, I would have folded to the reraise and call preflop. They may have both had you beaten already. [/ QUOTE ] You're most likely behind, but you still have implied odds to call and catch a set. |

Your brother is too optimistic. I doubt UTG is raising with AKs, he has KK or QQ; second UTG limper is likely 2 big overcards. You're a big dog here. I'd fold.
Tell your brother to put down the Phil Hellmuth books and read something more productive. |

The limp-reraise UTG smells exactly like a big pair to me. I'd consider folding preflop, and I'd fold to the bet after. If he's a lag or a maniac (like your brother) you can put him all-in.

Re: Flopping an over pair 99 - Who is right..... me or my brother??
If you think your hand is good here, betting out is much better than going for a C/R. If I thought there was a reasonable chance my hands was good and my opponent was not a overly aggressive, I would bet out around $25 and fold to a raise.
I am inclined to think your hand is no good here though, unless you have past experience with this opponent suggesting he might play a lower pair or AK this way. Paul |
