I prefer sacrificing a live snake over my keyboard.

Anyone want to buy a (slightly) used keyboard?

When I sit down to play it's for a specified amount of time.

As long as the table I am sitting at is a good table, I'll stay there as long as I'm playing.

Now if the context of the table changes such that my expected win rate declines I will certainly leave that table, good cards or bad.

But the cards I receive has absolutely nothing with whether or not I hang out at a table for any specified amount of time.

You're all ignoring the fact that he might loosen up preflop when he hasn't had good cards for a specified amount of time. If he leaves because that is a danger, more power to him.

I think if I ever _caught_ a card I'd hit the "leave table" button out of pure shock.

if you're prone to tilting when you're card dead then leaving can be a good idea, but leaving after just 3 orbits is pretty silly. online this is almost never a problem for me as i play multiple tables and often short handed.

live play, i stay as long as i can endure the boredom which is why i often bring a book or my IPOD with me whenever i go play.

Do you carry a rabbit's foot with you too?

If you're playing well, repeat: If you're playing well, the game is good, and you have nowhere else to go/you want to keep playing, there's no reason to leave. Don't try to predict when/where the swing will hit. You won't be able to.

Set a time limit to play. After the time is up, reasses your game and the game your in. Be honest with yourself. Just because the game is good, doesn't mean you're in the right frame of mind to beat it. If you decide to play on, set another time limit for another checkpoint.

when i play live and am card dead, i rub my cards against my hot irish nuts before peeking. since i play online from a laptop, i do the same in those circumstances. it really works wonders, and sometims gives me wood.

'nite!

Online, unless it's a particularly fishy table, I'll play 3 rounds and if I haven't had anything to play or what I've had to play hasn't come close to hitting the flop I'll leave.

Live I'll usually play 2 hours or so with the same criteria.

Maybe you should switch to roulette.
