Re: XP LAN connection
sure looks like you are geting an address, and you can ping addresses from the prompt, but IE fails to connect...
other computers using the router do not have this problem? from Christy, try using ftp to reach a server like ftp.cac.psu.edu - do you get through? What are the Windows firewall settings on Christy right now? |

Re: XP LAN connection
No other computers have this problem on the router, the old computer worked fine in the same port. I am trying to figure out how to do an ftp. I have telneted via port 80 (read that was a good way to test connection without IE) and it worked.
This happens with the firewall on or off. |

Re: XP LAN connection
What happens if you put an IP address into the address bar of IE? For instance, http://69.20.77.98?

Re: XP LAN connection
same thing, nothing. If I type in a web adress it will report it found the site, just stalls after that.
Also, if I goto my router 192.168.0.1 I instantly get the login window, and enter the password and it stalls out trying to show my router home page. |

Re: XP LAN connection
[ QUOTE ]
IP address...:192.168.01.101 [/ QUOTE ] To be on the same subnet the tre first "colums" (or what ever you call them) must be equal. 192.168.01.x is not on the same subnet as 192.168.0.x if subnetmask is 255.255.255.0 so remove that '1' you got extra there and try again. |

Re: XP LAN connection
I wondered that too, this computer is on 192.168.01.100 and works. And I had that computer on 192.168.01.4 earlier with no progress. I will try switching it to .10 and see though.
