[/ QUOTE ] I used to feel this way, too, but it really doesn't matter- if I feel like scotch straight up, it's Macallan 18; if I feel like a scotch and soda, well, it's Macallan 18. Why? Because, it tastes better, and I can afford it, bitches. |

Re: How to drink Johnny Walker Blue
To whoever said something about blends trying to sound all educated about Scotch,
A single malt is by no means inherently better than a blend and it makes no sense to say "drink a blend this way and a single malt this way." Sorry. |

Re: How to drink Johnny Walker Blue
I don't like scotch, but when I'm drinking bourbon I'll put about 1 ice cube/ounce in. Making it colder smoothes it out some, as well as the obvious dilution. Doing the same thing with scotch seems pretty standard to me. FWIW, my dad is a huge scotch fan given his income (he can't buy a $100 bottle of scotch every month, but he can certainly appreciate it when he gets the chance) and he drinks it with ice.

Update
Thanks for the advice guys...
I have been putting 2 oz. over 3 large ice cubes and that seems to be doing the trick. I seem to like it better after it sits for about 5 minutes and dilutes a bit, probably becuase I'm not used to drinking scotch. Overall I like it, it is very very smooth and has a kind of smoky aftertaste. But honestly, I've drank johnny black on the rocks a few times before and I don't know if a bottle of blue label is worth the $100 difference. Thanks again - Jags |
