i think you and everyone else - the difference is folding a low flush with 4 on the board. they'll pump it up, where a half-decent player knows where they stand. [/ QUOTE ] yea, im only talking about this hand, 4-flush boards are completely different. im just saying theres no point in "trying to fold better hands" here. im just wondering if worse hands would call a raise/push |

Bet as much as you think he will call. He probably folds to a push though.
Huge majority of the time this is a confused donkey making a blocking bet/bluff, only he isn't sure which one it is. These guys are hard to bluff, and you have to valuebet everything possible vs their stupid donk bets. |

I hate raising this river. Only a better hand will call. He's given you a nice showdown price. Why not just take it? If he shows you just a ten with no clubs, he wouldn't have called your raise or push. If he has a weak flush, he would have. If he has 2-pair, he probably (not for sure) calls the push. But there are few hands that play this way in to 2-pair.
I'll just call. |

[ QUOTE ]
what about a mini-raise [/ QUOTE ] From you? I'm not sure about that; I don't think often about making a minraise. I can see the value in it here. It might encourage a very marginal hand to call in desperation. But then again (and the main reason why I generally don't like minraises), a minraise exposes you to further action, which you usually won't want. The opponent will of course push a strong hand. But a short stack could also feel like he needs to swing his way away from the wall, and push any marginal hand. A push from the opponent is a very likely response to your minraise, and when it happens, it sucks. Given that a minraise will never evoke a fold, sometimes will evoke a call, and often evoke a difficult push, I'll not minraise here. |

id love a push from a marginal hand
question is, how often is a push a hand that i beat, and how often is a push from hand that i lose to? if it's 50/50 then the mini-raise is good because there are times when he also makes that crying call |

I would think much worse hands will call and only a better hand would re-raise. It is diabolically brillant (unless of course, villain has the nut flush). |
