Re: I don\'t think enough anymore

People, we have an unknown. Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (9 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is Button with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 6 folds, Hero raises, SB calls, 1 fold. Flop: (5 SB) K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) SB bets, Hero calls. Turn: (3.50 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) SB bets, Hero raises. [/ QUOTE ] The problem with raising the turn here is that it doesn't make a king fold, and it allows a weaker hand to get away. I would just make sure that one bets goes in on each street. |

Re: I don\'t think enough anymore
raise the flop, find out if he has a king. I think if you are assuming he ain't got the king, you'll make more money by letting him bet at you with a blank turn?
Interested to hear the results, thatchboy. |

Raise the flop, for the love of all that is Small Stakes Hold'em [/ QUOTE ] Why? So he can fold the turn without paying off at all when he's behind, and c/r the turn when he's ahead? Keep in mind that you WANT someone chasing an A, eg, to call you all the way down. Getting chasers to fold is not a good thing. Even if he's on a flush draw, waiting till the turn to raise is better. |

Re: I don\'t think enough anymore
I think in these games you'll rarely get a king to fold, which is one of several advantages of a turn raise. A disadvantage to the turn raise is that sometimes you'll encounter crazies who 3bet with a worse hand, making you fold. Also, you could definitely make a bluff or an inferior hand fold. Overall, I think calling down the entire way is the better play headsup like this.

Re: I don\'t think enough anymore
rightly or wrongly...... I am raising the flop, then betting the turn, folding to a turn raise and check calling the river.

Original poster knows that, and I would say a fair ammount of the respondents know that as well. The Gaming Mouse brought up some excellent points. Sarge[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] |
