Re: Dutch Boyd is extremely intelligent. I may back him..........
[ QUOTE ]
He is willing to do a contract (he is a lawyer!) and if he was to dishonor it, he's smart enough to know he would never get another percentage backer. I honestly think he's good for it. [/ QUOTE ] I'm pretty sure there are people that though that when they backed him last time. |

[/ QUOTE ] A contract would probably put you in a better position that the people who lost money through Pokerspot. If you do this though, I'd strongly recommend having your own lawyer review the contract before agreeing to it. This isn't meant to express an opinion about Boyd or the deal offered one way or the other; it's just the smart thing to do when you enter into any contract. |

Re: Dutch Boyd is extremely intelligent. I may back him..........
What makes you think any contract will make him pay if he wins? Are you a lawyer?
What makes you think he hasn't stiffed many people in the past in a way that ought to prevent you from trusting him with $1, much less $2k? What makes you think he won't dump chips to a friend who owns more of himself? What makes you think he won't sell 300% of himself and then lose intentionally for a quick $7k, or fail to enter for a quick $11k? If you haven't thought of these, I think you are a troll. |

Re: Dutch Boyd is extremely intelligent. I may back him..........
The real question to ask before entering into a contact is; In the worst case scenario, is the other party collectable? If you backed him and He didn't pay, does He own anything that you can place a lein against? Can you collect your money?

I'm not a troll. Good points you bring up. But the simple
truth is; if Dutch does any of those you mention, if he was to cash of course, he would knowingly destroy any and all future possible stakes, and I don't think he is that stupid. |

[/ QUOTE ] In the opinion of many people here, Dutch Boyd has already ruined his reputation, and should have destroyed "any and all future possible stakes" [sic]. It is perplexing that you would ignore this and keep recommending him unless you are a shill or you are a troll. |

Re: Dutch Boyd is extremely intelligent. I may back him..........
Who "backed" Dutch Boyd last time? I never bothered to find out every juicy tidbit (but then again, I suspect that 99% of the people denouncing DB for a thief and a tool haven't bothered either) but my understanding is that he was part owner of a poker site that went belly up. (I think I recall him saying a financial backer or money-man skipped town with some money or something.)
It is also my understanding that he has made efforts to pay back people who had money in their accounts when said site bit the big one. Unless I'm way off on bankruptcy law, he was under no obligation, legal or otherwise, to pay this money back. People who deposited money in the site knew (or should have known) the risk they were taking. Does it suck for them? Of course. Does it make DB a thief who premeditately conned people out of their retirement accounts? No. If Doggin decides to back him in this tournament, he will do so forwarned, and will know the risks. To claim that anyone thinking about it must be a shill for Dutch Boyd is grade-school [ QUOTE ] I'm pretty sure there are people that though that when they backed him last time. [/ QUOTE ] |

You really should do your homework before you post something like this. Poke around in the archives for awhile, there's plenty there to show you why so many of us think this guy is scum. If after reading up you still think he's not, that's fine but at least be informed.
