Re: Limit Theory Quesiton
Firstly, I don't think this is a stupid theory question, but rather a fundamental poker concept.
While the true answer to this depends very much on the individual answering, for most of us, the ability to think in terms of chips and not Dollar/Euro amounts is imperative to being able to make the best decisions possible. Doing so keeps your thought process focused on the odds present, the other players, your position, the cards, and everything but the fact that "OMG IT'S GOING TO COST ME AN IPOD TO CALL?" The comments from others about playing within your bankroll are also very much tied in to being able to think in terms of chips. It is very difficult for me not to think about dollar amounts when I am playing above my bankroll, and I imagine this to be the case for many others, too. For that matter, the only times I have gotten myself in trouble playing poker have been those times when I was playing above my bankroll, but that's another issue. Re: Limit Theory Quesiton
I tend to expect different levels (and styles) of play at different limits and usually find what I expect to find.
That said, it doesn't take me long to adjust so I'd say that for me there would be almost no difference(s). I rarely multi-table anything bigger than 3-6; partly for strategic reasons but also because simultaneous tough beats at 10-20 or 15-30 are hard for me to shake off so I guess if I was ignorant as to the stakes it wouldn't matter. |
