Default Re: Cards intentionally exposed during play

Not illegal, not dead hand. Possibly an angle shoot but far less tragic than doing the "stack of chips in my hand, oh I'll just beat them on the table and CHECK!" while watching your opponent, IMO. I used to think it made your hand automatically dead in a tournament but have since been corrected.

For the people who think it's a dead hand, what happens if I accidentally expose my cards? I have to play them.

Basically, find out what the rules are in any particular cardroom or for any particular tournament.

Story takes place at the Bellagio. The one seat open raises and both blinds call. He has headphones on. He bets every street on a pretty harmless, but paired, board. River action: Bet, SB call, BB raise. One seat flips over AA, dealer flips it over and mucks it. "What are you doing?!"

Dealer: "There was a raise. If you flip over your cards when there is a bet to you, it is considered a surrender and your cards will be mucked."

One seat didn't make a big deal out of it. SB was nice and said "All right, I'll call for you." He calls, and BB wins with a boat.
