[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Good turn bet. But... Fold the raise. With this pot I don't think someone can be bluffing enough times to make a call profitable (don't forget that you will have to call the river as well if you insist on keeping him honest). [/ QUOTE ] And just think that the 2 BB it will cost to do that will take an expert 100 hands to make back up. Plug them leaks. Don't get married to them queens. [/ QUOTE ] Except it's not costing him 2BB because it's worth almost half a bet to draw out, and he'll be bluffing some of the time. It's less than a 1.5BB mistake but I don't know how much. [/ QUOTE ] Nit! |

I thought calling a raise even if you feel you're beat is something you to do not seem overly weak. [/ QUOTE ] There is a line in SSH regarding this that I think many take out of context. But if this guy is a solid player then I think this is an easy fold. I agree with the logic that if you call the turn bet, you have to call the river (committed yourself to a showdown). Showdown or fold in this spot might be read dependent (habitual bluffer) . But either this guy is executing a very good bluff or you are drawing to 2 outs. Any numbers/reads on the villian? |

Because this is micro-limits (full of Ace-chasers), and because it was SPECIFICALLY an Ace that he woke up on; without a read, I would call down, but mostly to see what the OTHER card is.
You (and I) are sure he has the Ace, but it would give you some good info to be shown, say, an offsoooot 4 along with it. With a read on the player, I don't really need this info...but I probably call down, anyway. |

I thought calling a raise even if you feel you're beat is something you to do not seem overly weak. [/ QUOTE ] This is more for the flop than the turn because the bets are smaller on the flop. Go check out SSH p.241. I had problems with calling down turn raises like these and it was a definitely bankroll killer. Thanks to Entity and (I think) Shillx for helping me get my head around that one a while ago. |
