Exactly the same scam they run with Party Steps -- someone pointed out that it's far smarter to "make your own Steps tournament", by starting at the 10+1 regular SNG and simply parlaying your winnings (if any) into the higher SNGs...far superior to Steps b/c you actually have the option of stopping (aka 'cashing out') at any stage.

But the Step Tourns have a completely different payout structure. Normal SnG's pay top 3 whereas the steps pay down to 9th place in some of them and a replay around top 5 places.

First Prize – The overall winner of the Tournament will win the Marquis JetCard paid for by PartyPoker.com and supplied by Net Jet.com or, if you chose, the cash equivalent. The Marquis JetCard entitles the winner and six of their friends up to twenty-five (25) hours of airtime in a private jet from and to a choice of 5,500 airports throughout the world.

# The prizes have the following approximate retail value, excluding sales tax, at the place of purchase:
(i) First Prize - $90,000
(ii) Second Prize - $75,000
(iii) Third Prize - $55,000
(iv) Fourth Prize - $50,000
(v) Fifth Prize - $35,000
The cash alternative which the winners may select will be the approximate retail value of the prize as stated above.

I missed that, but it's interesting to see how much the value of the prize changes from one page to another.

Looks like they are taking an extra 118k right off the top. Nice!

This is not directed at the OP, but rather anyone who actually considers this a "cool' promotion. It's a sucker's bet. You're far, far better off playing in any of their weekend $500 - $700K guaranteed tournies.

Thanks for not directing it at me

First, you can take the cash, rather than the prizes!

Second, if all the good players feel as you do that these prize tournaments aren't worth playing in, and the prizes attract all the fish, then they are certainly +EV over a regular high guarantee tournament that all the superstar MTTers play in

Finally, the value of steps is in providing fish food for the high level SNGers, who now simply buyin at level5 and make easy prey of the $5 & $10 SNGers who got lucky along the way
