what it all boils down to is this: by giving a hot chick a 7, that is basically saying "to ME she's only a 7, because boy i know some 9's that are so much hotter, i'm a pimp". The less critical and accusatory reason is for relating to others: "man, I was talking with this 9 last night"...its both innocent and ego-stroking... Now sure there is also preference, and I don't think every guy is lying who says "I just don't find X attractive for ___ reasons". To me, Rene Russo isn't hot, but some friends of mine really dig her. There's no such thing as perfection. No one is the same person day to day, year to year, and so on. The best anyone can hope for is to be with someone that they match with, and everything just clicks...

Sure they are mostly beautiful people, but they don't look the same in real life as they do on magazine covers. With a top notch make-up artist, any 6 can become a 9. Ever see Jenna Jameson without any makeup?

[/ QUOTE ] Ive seen both of them, close up in a restaurant I used to work at. Neither of the two were stunning, esp. barrymore who was spectacularly "meh". FWIW, there were several "normal" woman customers in the restaurant at the same time who totally blew both of them out of the water. I agree with your argument here in general though. A lot of the celebrities Id see were in fact gorgeous.
