[ QUOTE ]
I don't agree with betting the river, but you should definitely bet the turn. With 4 other people seeing this flop, it's very likely someone has an ace. It's not definite, but I don't think it's unlikely enough to make this a river value bet. Most of the time you'll be donating rather than collecting value. But yes bet the turn, and take the free showdown instead. [/ QUOTE ] River is a value bet like none other. |

For the river to be a value bet, the 4 players who saw the flop would all need to not have an ace a certain percentage of the time.
Knock it down to 2 players and I'm with you, but 4... it's just too unlikely. (I'd do some numbers now but I must leave. Perhaps when I return!) |

Yeah, like others have mentioned. Be aggressive. Bet the turn, and I wanted to cry when I saw you folded the river. You gotta call that.

Bet the turn and river.
We've discussed the value of knocking out the weaker draws, but another possible value in betting here vs. timid/passive players is, if he has a weak Ace (A2o, A4o), you may get him to fold a better hand if you keep hitting him. MP1's betting the river smells a lot like a bluff, or hitting his 10. The weakness shown in checking through the turn probably induced this bluff, but you would rather get the money in here by betting. |
