I agree that raising could cause everyone to fold, but remember that he's raising into 4 other people, not just the bettor. The real reason I didn't say much about pushing on the flop is that I think it depends a lot on his opponents and what he's been doing in the game, and without that information I think it's tough to make a good decision. In terms of a club killing his action... if this player, having just one pot bet left in his stack, will give up on the turn whenever a scare card comes then that is a huge leak in his game, and hero should be able to rob him blind.

Thank you for the analysis. I am very poor at calculating such odds but this post has illustrated many formerly ambiguous concepts. I also am starting to understand how to adjust preflop for nolimit rather than limit.
