There's one person on this thread that sounds like an idiot, and it ain't me, fella. Lee and Pujols were better than Jones in every meaningful statistic.

RBI's and defense are meaningless? What a tool.

Just quit.

RBI's are more or less meaningless, do some research, baseballprospectus or something, get it together. You are in the vast minority here.

Taveras also dominated the rookie of the year voting. It's amazing how clueless the players are about their own sport.

They voted Palmiero the gold glove at first base in a year he hardly played it. Mickey Mantle said he always voted for Norm Cash because he was his buddy.

And even if the players truly felt Jones was better than Pujols, they're wrong.

[ QUOTE ]
I didnt say they know everything, but they know who the best players are because they play with or against them everyday.

[/ QUOTE ]

No they don't. If it isn't a divisional team they hardly see them at all and even in division they see them about 18 times. Fans and media see much more of them than the other players do. Fans and media see every (local) game and every (national) highlight.

Taveras reminds me of Vince Cloeman, except he isn't as fast.

The surest way to prove you are a "moran" is to make a sweeping generalization like this.

Yeah there probably is a certain segment of baseball players whose opinions are more valuable than writers. since they could both study the game and play it at a high level. however, in general i would think the writers are more qualified to give their opinion on mvp and such its there job to write about such things.

Andrew Jones? Why did the players vote for a fictional player?
