Hold Em Poker by Sklansky has an excellent chapter on this to start you off.
I'm at the beginner transition to intermediate stage at the moment I'd say, and I got starter hands down pat and how to play different flops based on my own cards/types of players still in mostly ok, and reading is the thing I'm really focussing on at the moment.

Excellent to use against tights, and some (but not all) loose players (it at least helps you identify the looses where it can be effective, if nothing else). But it's very tiring - need to really concentrate - I've cut my sessions down from 6+ hours to about 90 minutes, after which I review the hands that wrong footed me to try and figure out where I could have done better.

avatars are programmed to give on tells. they are very subtle though so look closely

check if they're playing one table..sometimes the timing of their calls are a tell...sometimes they're setting you up with the timing...but it does exist with some players
