this brings up a different, occasionally approached topic.
others inappropriately bringing up 2+2 on the tables.

WTF?!?!

guess it's just a pet-peeve.

i try to be a little more discreet if/when i do this.

i said hi to someone who was alone at a 200-SNG table for example. would not have done so if there were others at the table.

i also said hi to someone who had just sent me a PM about absolute...and later that day he was on my left at an AP table so i welcomed him aboard.
he quickly figured out that i was 'MB', we never said '2+2' and we moved on.

a couple others have figured out my handle on a couple other sites and said hi without mentioning 2+2.

honestly, i think it's just common courtesy.

I don't give a rat who knows I post here and use the same name (or a slight variation) and avatar where avatars are used. I ironed my avatar on my t-shirt pocket before going to Canterbury and a few folks said hi. I had a nice chat with a few. Wierd thing was I played next to this guy for about an hour and never tangled with him once, but when I left he said "good luck, Milo" and told me he recognized the avatar. I just want to tell him, "Hey Asswipe, you missed the point."

I don't really understand what your concern is about mentioning 2+2. Is it that your worried that other players will be intimidated or that that they will fear collusion?

I don't think that it's going to drive fish away from the tables and I'd have no problem openly acknowledging another 2+2 poster at the table or being acknowledged. I wouldn't discuss strategy or anything like that though.
However, given the high degree of sensitivity about this issue I'd probably go with the brown trout code.

very cool idea. i love it.

yeah, i used to be paranoid about people knowing me at the table when i first started posting only because i sucked. i didnt want people to know how weak my game and exploiting that. now that im decent i could care less who knows.

and for those worried that if the table finds out what 2+2 is and it's going to ruin the game, it won't. tell the whole table. heck make your table name twoplustwo.com. a few people might come here. a few people might actually read a posts. most will get bored and leave quickly.

I'm planning to do this as soon as Party lets me change my name again. Hopefully, no one will beat me to it.

Uhh, joe Tall started it I think

Some asked a long time ago about using a 2+2 code and I responded with "the brown trout..." and it stuck.

I'm guessing it's a reference to some song from the psychedelic era, but I don't know for sure

I really don't know where it may have originated but my friends and I have been bouncing it off each other for decades in certain situations. Personal/inside jokes, strange social situations, etc.

Peace,
Joe Tall

PITTM! HI! If anyone there read 2+2 it was between you and that she_devil character, i'm glad it was you.

You nob though, instead of saying 'Aye, she does' you gave the response most people give 'wtf'.

Nice chatting with you though. After that guy that she_devil was hounding left the table pretty much broke up.

The new code should be:

"Are you a friend of MicroBob?"

Everybody on 2+2 knows who MicroBob is.
