Re: Cruise ship poker?
Mike,
Finally spread a cheap buy-in NLTHE game the last day with 6 other guys from the wedding. The ship had a beautiful card room and we brought our own chips in. No chance to hire a dealer since we couldn't make a game later than the casino closed (2AM or so). I had a feeling I would do okay since the guys really wanted to play with their new Bicycle decks. They felt that the Bicycles were better than the plastic cards I brought which they had never heard of (Kems) I made it to the end, but heads-up I played some straight draws poorly and ended up on the short stack with about 8 blinds left. I went all-in with K-9s and he called with Q-5o! Don't you know he hits a set of fives and takes me down. It just ain't right. There were several other games going on around us. One table had bought $0.50 & $1.00 chips from the casino to play with. I watched a couple of hands go by and wished I could have switched tables. On a side note, the casino was pretty sad. I only saw two people at the craps table at a time. The only place there was any action was the single-deck blackjack table. It's been 20 years since I learned how to do a simple card count and I couldn't do it fast enough to keep up with the dealer. I'll definitely cruise again and always bring some Bicycles with me...
