hehe, if you're questioning this call after the fact it must mean you were beat

Why would you not push someone who is raising 75% of his hands when you hold a premium hand?

nope, I pushed and he instacalled. Hit my A on the river and mhig, no clue what he had.

My roommate was yelling at me to fold and wait for a better spot, but I felt like I made the right move here against this type of opponent.

For those of you who have never pushed AK preflop for 90bb in a cash game, it rules.
