Default Re: Hands 6 through 9

I'll comment on the hands I might play differently.

Hand 3:

I would probably not raise preflop, although I don't think raising here is a mistake at all. Just a personal preference. This hand is a great hand, however it's a pure drawing hand in a game that has many preflop callers given the aces alone aren't too likely to stand up for high. I just call here drawing in as many callers as possible.

Hand 4:
Fold on the turn. I don't believe you have the odds to call here on a gutshot.

Hand 5:
I'd consider betting the flop given the gutshot straight and low draw, but this is likely debatable. Turn bet is ok. The river is interesting. If I was single-tabling, and if I had some read on MP2 I might check given the bad river card and the fact that the pot is so small, but the likely scenario for me would be to bet given I often multi-table at these lower limit games.

Hand 6:
Yuck. Top set with a 2 low wheelcard flop. If I were thinking clearly in this hand, I think I'd fold the turn against all but the most clueless players. You're drawing for 1/2 of what amounts to a very small pot.
I'm not sure I'd raise the flop here either, but I'd be interested in other opinions on the flop raise.

Everything else seems more or less standard

For Hand 3 - I only raised because I was on the button - and I wouldn't knock too many people out - but I could have not raised, also.

Hand 4 - I called because I had the nut flush draw as well and the guy was all-in for less than 1 BB. But, I didn't feel that good about it.

Hand 6 - Yeah, I misplayed this quite badly throughout.

You are correct, I missed the diamond flush draw. I count 9 clean outs to either a non pairing diamond or ten which gives you just over 5:1 odds on your call. You have just over the necessary odds. I probaly would have called as well.

Reviewing the hands, it seems overall you were playing the right hands and just got unlucky. Of your sample, I think the average pot size was $11 and change with more than 50% players calling preflop, which is pretty much what you want (aside from players capping with any 4).

Keep it up, things should turn around at some point.

The AAJ2 hand I would have raised with it too, and I probably would have taken a card off on the flop - it is possible that you have the best hand. And a low is possible.

Any time you play A2 or A3 you will be counterfeitted about 50% of the time - just the breaks.

Hands like QQxx, they are not very useful in lose games. Even as well as AQQJ is connected, you are generally only playing for half the pot, and and flop is Q 2 3 is not good for you, in tight tables, this may counterfiet a player, but you will run into people at the loose table play A4 A5 maybe evne 2 4 5 x.

Hutchinson point system says to only play high hands with four cards 10 and over AND either double suited or double paired. This is a little harsh, but I have been flushed so many times when I hit a straight - buy really weak flushes too, that I tend to agree.

How big is your bankroll? $100 should be enough for Party $0.50/$1

[/ QUOTE ]

A 100 is not enough to play at that level. You need to be around 300. Maybe even 500 if you are just learning. Good Luck

Just tonight at Party .5/1 - these are the sad stats:

340 hands - won 2% of hands, seen 20% of flops (including blinds) - won 13% of flops seen - lost 28 BBs. Even if you don't chase - it is still tough.

[/ QUOTE ]

Wow, 20% of the flops. That is pretty tight for O8. Are you waiting for A2 all the time?. I am usually around 30% for the flop. Post some hands next time

If you were only going to put in 100 dollars,I would try pokerstars to build up. they have smaller limit tables so you can feel comfortable with that money. I don't think 100 is enough to play .5-1 when you are just learning to play. Good Luck [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
