The only hand I see where it makes sense to play like villain is 9T, although I can actually see playing a set this way too against the right hero. A bad player however, can have a lot of hands, including a naked ace, made flush, other hands.

Hehe, I think most good players would play it fast, hoping to get action from a set, two pair or naked ace with a pair, ie raise flop.

A fourth spade also freezes the smaller flushes, if it doesn't lose the hand for them, which is also preferably avoided.

I don't disagree.

But didn't HERO lead with nearly a pot-sized bet on the Flop? By my standards that's an aggressive bet.

If I was on a made flush I would welcome the action and worry that a reraise would force HERO to fold. On the turn, HERO fires again. I'd call him to the river unless the board paired or a fourth [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] hit as you suggested.

Many players are prepared to play an all-in pot on the flop with A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]T or a set. This is obviously a proftiable spot for you, and these hands also have some outs to draw out. Eg against a set, you just call to the river, and then raise big, he folds, and you win a smaller pot with the risk of getting outdrawn.

If hero bet and I were the villain with a weak made flush, I'd probably just call him down and value bet if checked to on the river. The problem with raising the bettor is that most of the time you'll get called by a higher flush.

Besides, if he's betting the pot, he's laying you good odds to keep dodging the fourth spade.

I basically always go broke against higher flushes on unpaired threespade boards.
