Hes 3betting the turn because of 1 of 2 things:
1) he thinks his ace is better and you are trying to push him off the hand.
2) since he doesnt know how to call, its his only play because he doesnt fold top pair.

This fold is terrible. You will win this hand the vast majority of the time. The times that you are behind when he has ace-rag-two-pair you still have outs when the board pairs counterfeighting his 2pair, or when you hit the queen.

can't fold there to someone w/an AF of 7.

[/ QUOTE ]

After only 30 hands, this figure can't possibly be very reliable. His true AF is almost always much lower.

also, against folks that play like this if i don't raise on the flop and take the lead, i'll sometimes wait until the river to raise.

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree that a river raise would have been better than what I did. He's less likely to 3-bet AK, and I only have to call 1 bet to see a showdown.

On a 2-flush board I will raise the turn against a LAG. If the flop was rainbow then I would wait until the river to raise him.

You already know that this is a terrible fold.

oops, not that "his ace is better" -- instead I mean "that his ace is good"

Everyone beat me to it, but I'll say it anyway. Call flop, call turn, raise river. No reason to fold though as far as I can see.

As everyone already said this fold is bad. We can pretty much rule AK out of the equation since he didnt cap preflop, which a lag will do. I can see a lag getting nutty with a hand like AT here. There is no way I am not getting to a showdown against this monkey.

If you don't think you have the best hand and aren't raising for value, then at least call down and see the showdown, you'll probably win more often than not.

Does everyone remember when Ed Miller said, "The reason you guys aren't crushing small stakes isn't because you're not smart. It's not because you don't study. It's because you fold too damn much."

I'm reading more and more posts where terrible folds are being made in SH pots in SH games.
