Easiest way to think about it is this: you are raising $5 to win a pot that will be $9 if BB folds ($1 SB + $3 BB + your $5). $5/$9 will be the odds you need to break even... that's 55.6% or so.

Breaking even means you must win the $4 5-times for ever 4-times you lose the $5. That means winning 5 times out of 9 which is about 55%.

Lets check. 55% times you win $4 - 45% times you lose $5. That's 55*4-45*5 = 220-225 = -5 over 100 attempts; pretty close to break even.
