given that this situation is close, there are other factors also that could make it a good call, like if the hero hits his runner runner draw it could put someone on full blown tilt and he may then proceed to blow the rest of his chips. And if you make your hand this call is wonderful for images purposes. Other people may think youre an idiot or a gambler since they dont understand the math, and this image can make you more money during your session. oh yeah and one more thing.....checkraise the damn river!

Good post. Another important point I think is that the lower your cards the more of a chance someone else can make a better straight or flush. In your example if you caught an 8 on the river instead of a 3, the 8 would of made J9 a straight in addition to you. Now we won't ever know if J9 was out there but he would of flopped an OESD so he would of stuck around to the river.

the fact that you didnt' check-raise and that more people didnt' point it out is completely ludacris. The pot is too big for anyone to fold a decent hand so you should get at least one call

Am I blind, or don't you have the nuts on the river? Why aren't you raising?

The fact that you could make a backdoor flush and lose to a higher flush should be taken into account.

Maybe you're right. Do you think it has more disadvantage than advantage that gives calling on turn with gut shot draw?
