when i push villian gets disgusted and goes into the tank. starts talking about how:
"there is no hand you can have here.",
"well i know KQs isn't even possible",
"trying to push me off AK?"
"pick up more straight outs with QJ?".

finally says "i can beat a big draw, and if im right im holding your outs. deuce of diamonds dealer, i call."

K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] no good.

confused solid player convinces himself he is being semi-bluffed and makes a big call.

I agree with checking the turn here ... even if the villian thinks your turn push is weird here, he's still going to think a bit before putting it all it.

AZK ... what I disagree on is acting like you're thinking about calling with a draw ... as soon as you furrow your brow or take a little extra time i think that most players will think "oh, he's putting on a show, he must have a 10" and they'll shut down AK.

If I was going to act at all it would be to throw my chips in the middle as quick as possible. I think this would do a better job of convincing the villian that you have a weak A or a super strong draw.

agreed...

u described your opponent as the type who is not going to make this call unless he has AA...

if you really feel the need to jam, i think i even prefer reraising all-in on the flop to what you did...i think you're letting the results cloud your judgement a bit.......*unless* you thought this player in particular might call you, in which case, its fine

i lead all-in for ~ $950.

thoughts?

To me, this is just foolish. The only way you will get paid off is if he has aces, which seems to be unlikely due to his raise on the flop. I like a weaker lead or a check-raise. Even though you dont have position on him, you can get more value doing a weaker lead or a check-raise.

Against good opponents, this play only works if you tend to get tricky with turn stop 'n go bluffs/semi-bluffs. If you don't, it's ridiculously obvious that you have a big hand and are looking for a call.

Of course, that is all very obvious. So I'll just say I don't like it, since you probably don't bluff/semi-bluff in that spot often enough to balance a play like this.

the fact so many of you would only call in his spot with Aces full is testament to how effective this line is with hands other than quads.

in addition the fact he could make this call is one of the reasons i consider him a tough opponent, as well as the fact he has been killing this game.
