Loosing to set-over-set should always cost you your stack, and you need to learn to be ok with this.

That being said, villain 3-bet on the flop. He really likes his hand. Yes, 99 is possible, but so is 33, 79, a slow played AA/KK, or a maniac w/ T8 (remember you have NO reads on this table). You're way, way ahead of most of the possibilities.

When villain tells me he likes his hand enough to 3-bet, and I have a set, I'm pushing right then and there.
