288 pages, that's a nice 2 hour read in the bookstore with some coffee, no need to buy it. [/ QUOTE ] That's a terrible idea! A couple people who read advance copies said they stayed up late at night to finish it. I'd hate to think of you locked in that bookstore, jacked up on coffee so you can't fall asleep on the floor, but without enough light to find out the conclusion. Mike |

Re: Howard Lederer takes Andy Beal up on his offer; book out in June
[ QUOTE ]
anyone know if there is significant strategical content to this book? [/ QUOTE ] There is a difference of opinion among the sources. Howard, obviously, didn't think of it as a strategy guide, and it's not. I should probably tell you whatever you want to hear to sell books, but it's not a "how to" book in any form. On the other hand, these guys were pretty frank - while still keeping some secrets - about their strategy. I had the benefit of doing most of the interviews when it REALLY looked like Andy Beal was done playing. Howard and Ted Forrest were fairly open on playing strategy, and Todd a little bit too. Enough that when I talked about strategy with Jennifer Harman and mentioned what they said, she asked me not to print it because she didn't want Andy to know what they were thinking. You'd definitely benefit in understanding heads up strategy from the book, but that is by far a minor part of the content, and probably not worth the price if that's all you got out of it. On the other hand, if you got just that and enjoyed the story of the famous "cross weights" bet involving Howard Lederer and Huck Seed, then may it is worth $25. Mike |

The suicide king is one of the cards in the deck, more specifically the king that has a sword held behind his head (making it look as if he's stabbing himself).
