Re: Various stories from TT\'s adventures at the Commerce - Chop Chop
[ QUOTE ]
the unwritten rule at the commerce is that if there are only two bets before the flop, the players may chop. if there are three or more bets, there is no chopping, because then it is more likely that someone laid down a playable hand. your point about collusion is paranoid. since you didn't want to play your hand, why do you care? [/ QUOTE ] Actually I wasn't really that bothered by it, but I was surprised to see it so I asked about the rule to the floor during some down time as we were all shooting the [censored]. They were both honestly surprised to learn this was occuring... so as I said in my post it's not officially allowed at Commerce by management but it is tolerated and even encouraged by the dealers. As for collusion, not that I was afraid it would happen to me (the donks I played against wouldn't know how to take advantage of it if they tried), it was that this could theoretically occur rather easily and affords potential colluders a "back door" if they cannot find someone to trap in between themselves. If it wasn't a concern then I'm sure every card room across the nation would allow this... see my point? TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |

Re: Various stories from TT\'s adventures at the Commerce - Chop Chop
[ QUOTE ]
I don't understand why this sort of stuff bothers people so much. [/ QUOTE ] Its not that it bothers me... because it really doesn't. I don't expect the Commerce management to change something that has been probably going on for years, something that has become part of the culture of the room. But it is sad that management doesn't even know this occurs and the floor says its not allowed. So either change the rules to allow it or stop it from occurring, thats my take on this... and since its unique to Commerce (or is it unique to California games?) then it deserves to be debated in this open forum IMHO. Interestingly enough this may be tolerated because of how they rake the pots at Commerce, its a $1 drop once the hand starts, and $3 at the flop regardless of pot size in the 9/18 game. I didn't look to see how it was done on the other limits. 20/40 was raked as well, which was a bit of a surprise to me. TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |

One hand was folded to the blinds and the SB was unaware of this. She completed over the table's protests and she and the BB played for a $1 pot. J |

[/ QUOTE ] What are you talking about? I really wonder when poker players here use this kind of illogic. You do understand that colluders split up the profits later, right? |

If you think that the managers at Commerce have never heard of this occurring you're crazy. My guess is that it violating gaming laws in LA so they can't openly encourage it, but they're not completely oblivious. |

[/ QUOTE ] Right... but if they don't trap anyone on this hand... they can chop and and not pay a rake... thus more profit to split up later.... right? example... BB sees AA... signals buddy who open raises from EP, allowing BB to 3 bet.... but no callers... we chop!! |
