Yeah I know but I was card dead and the table was tight and I'm self delusion that I can outplay them postflop and my stummy hurts.

When this happens to me, live, I play JTs in this spot for a raise. Not this trash though. Online, just wait it out. It can't really take all that long.

This is ridiculous. You can't use combinatorics and say how likely the guy is to have a bigger flush. The fact that he checked the river shows just how unlikely it is. People don't checkraise here because its a mega scare card. I think this is a very easy value bet. Also I fold preflop.

So I bet and they both call. SB had some crap and BB had KK with a club, MHING. Do you like BB's play?

without a read of the table as too tight I don't steal from the CO with 69s.

and we aren't raising the flop...why? I want the initiative and I want the button.

check behind on the river...bb did call 4 big bets...they put you on a made flush, probably the nuts, which means they check-call the K/Q/J of clubs...

this whole hand just reeks of badness...

Ok so now I've read the replies...wow.

Value-betting the river is just atrocious, guys.

Just because the BB checked doesn't mean he doesn't have the K/Q/J of clubs. WE CAPPED THE TURN. He's gotta be massively scared that we have the nut flush made. The same applies to the SB.

This one is really not hard.

If you're checkraised, I think you should fold.

I agree with Will, though. I like checking behind on the river better.

However, on the flop, I think just calling is okay. I don't think you're stealing this one, and I don't really mind if Button decides to come along.

Sure, you might get a free card on the turn, but it wouldn't be so great if SB 3-bet the flop (which he might) and drove BB out. Also, if you just call, you're in good position to pop the turn if you catch.

I didn't want to raise on the flop since I felt BB is often going to 3-bet me and knock out players.

You make a good argument for checking the river though.

So what happens if I get checkraised?

You throw up a little in your mouth. Thats why I like checking behind. That cold calling big blind really scares me.

As a sidenote I also wanted to add that I liked the fact that you didnt raise the flop like a lot of players would have. After you got three-bet preflop and its bet-call to you on the flop I think its very unlikely that you can take this down without catching your flush here. You also could lose the button by raising or BB if the SB makes it three-bets when it gets back to him. I used to make the wrong play in rasing the flop with hands like these in such scenarios until I though about it a bit more. I actually believe your biggest edge might even be that if you just call this flop and another club slides off on the turn SB is almost guaranteed to still bet into you. So once again I like not raising this flop here because it rules out getting three-bet/possibly losing players, and because I feel if you dont get three bet you extarct more value if a club slides off. These are both reasons I've been using plays like the "free card" with less frequency.
