I've been playing in the Motor City $10/20 game regularly this month, which has seemed to recently increased in popularity. I'm interested in anyone who plays in this game or any of the other games at MCC, i've also made a few posts in my poker blog about the $10/20 game for those who are curious.

Here are some regulars I play with:

1) A shaved head who always wears a blue sky-diving Mr. Spock one-piece pullover type outfit. He never says a word, although I cant help thinking how he must try to play "logically" and without his emotions getting the best of him.

2) an middle aged, shorter, dark haired woman who looks really funny with a baseball hat and sunglasses.

3) a guy who always wears an NBC jacket and always has the nuts.

Does MCC or the anything in Windsor have NL? If so, what are the blinds and buy-ins? I would like to hit the other casinos but I hate limit.

Windsor spreads 1-2NL (100max). Not sure about higher buy-ins. When I was there on a Saturday night in June the wait was less than an hour. It seemed to be a standard fishy low NL game, standard raise was 12 or 15, usually two or three callers, several that will call down (even all-in) with TP no kicker. I think I remember that the room was non-smoking, or at least the ventalation was terrific. Time charge is the same as the Detroit rooms - $6.00/30 minute down, but as that is in Canadian dollars, it works out to about US$5.00 (of course, the buy-in is about US$80, too).

I liked the room and will go back the next time I'm looking for poker in the Detroit area.

I visited Motor City in Detroit and Trump in Gary, IN this week. I had some good, bad, and hilarious observations. If you want to read about them in detail, check out my blog, the Chicago Poker Club . Also, if you follow the link on the right-hand side of the blog, you'll find a discussion forum specific to Chicago and surrounding areas.

Both Greektown and Motor City take and list "call-ins". In both places it causes confusion for the persons maintaining the lists and for persons waiting. At Motor City it is simply stupid. The computer will only list about 15 names for a particular game. I've seen that computerized list three quarters filled with call-ins, where I have been standing there (in person) not on the list, for lack of space. Sure enough, on that particular day...I had to speak with the floor, because I was on NO LIST AT ALL.
The worst part about visiting any one of those rooms is having to deal with the person and the "list". I don't live there. I have to travel to get there. I don't want hear [censored] about, "oh, those are all call-ins". Maybe there is a way to operate such a system, but from what I've seen those employees simply don't have it mentally.

The dealers are much better at Motor City. Motor City's room is too small, given the demand. I have never seen so many dealers, who have been in place so long and are so bad at what they do, as Greektown.

At Greektown, on a scale of 1-10 you either get an 8+ or a 2 for a dealer. It's about 30/70, but man, the good dealers are good. I'll stay an extra 90 minutes if I know Labib (or Charlie, Warren, Joe...) is coming through.

The problem at Greektown is two-fold. First, the paper/tables they keep the list on is too cramped. Make the rows taller and about half the problem (mis-reading names) goes away. The other is that they understaff the room. When there are two people working the desk, it runs fine. One is on the phone and the other is on the lists. Too often, there's one person at the desk, and the person running the list is a floorperson who's ALSO running fills and all the other floor tasks.

Windsor is a decent room. They spread 1/2 NL, 50 min buy-in 100 max. Any time you drop below 100 you can bump back up. Wait on the game seemed pretty minimal, probably 12-29 minutes on my estimate. They also have a 200 min NL game, some decent players with bankrolls. I'd recommend being a serious NL player going into that game.

The 5/10 Limit game seems to be full of rocks. I was only there for the weekend, but I was on the 5/10 list for 3 hours with only 1 table open. The 3/6 is a donkfest. I didn't get really any big hands and pulled down a decent amount in a few hours. Plenty of first timers on the weekend and people calling all the way through with just an ace. Also get some NL home players trying to get people off of hands, so you can make a decent profit. I saw 2 pair reraise twice heads up against a flush on the river. A noble play indeed.

Also, the card room is well-ventilated and the dealers seem pleasant. They have an electronic shuffle, so the action moves fairly quick. You can buy in for American or Canadian at the table as well, which is nice. Hope that helps.
