Re: My preflop \"grey areas\"
the chart is in the sticky faq at the top of the page along with several genius threads that everyone needs to read.
When it comes to preflop guidelines I have a hard time giving advice because how tight and aggressive you are preflop really determines how you need to play post flop. You need to be able to lay down your misses. I see more flops than I would suggest for someone who has only been playing a couple of years, (I vpip around 20.5) but that has a lot to do with the table and the strength of the players. On UB if I have book on three or four fish or dice at the table I can loosen it up a lot. If I have no book or the table seems tighter I wrench it down some. As for smooth calling any premium hand...no way. AQs is a sweet holding it needs to be raised or even reraised. JJ is a raise and cap if you;re reraised. Getting burned a bit will take the aggression out of you. Don't let the fish take your game from you. Just because someone cold called three bets preflop with 64o and cracked your JJ by catching two pair is no reason to start slowing down. Just think of all the times folks catch the one six and call you down to pay your jj off. |
