I tried cutting him some slack by unbanning because I thought the initial post was just a newbie mistake. Clearly it's not working out and there is now an exile in place. Lesson: Mercy sucks and I just need to go with my gut. [/ QUOTE ] From my perspective, you work seems to be starting to pay off. |

I actually think that this could be an interesting thread, but there are just way too many significant turning points throughout the whole of human history to break it down to one, so I'll throw out a few.
Prehistoric: Agriculture Pre-Roman: The development of the city-state Roman Era: Democracy, Caesar's Gallic campaign Ancient Western Civ.: The conversion of Constantine Ancient Easterrn Civ.: The rise of Mohammed Medieval - Renaissance: The Printing Press Modern: Computer technology |

I'd say the rise of Rome first and foremost, which created a common legacy and language (Latin) throughout Europe.
Secondly, the rise of the British Empire (tied to the industrial revoluton arising in Britain) in promoting the Westernisation of most of the world, helping to promote shared values, similar legal and political structures and suchlike. |

What do you think is the most important turning point in human history and why? [/ QUOTE ] Easy. The Agricultural Revolution. Why? If not for it, we'd still be living in caves. Read Ishmael. |
