I'm pretty sure neither of those hands are bad beats.

That's a pretty awesome score on the bad beat-o-meter.

Honestly this isn't really a bad beat either.

In fact the funny thing is this moron didn't even have the brains to raise the river. You would have paid him off too, you know you would have.

Nope. No need for a contest, because having quads cracked by runner, runner straight flush > *.

Seriously, there's no point in focusing on anything you perceive to be a bad beat. You'll get outdrawn every time you sit down and play poker. It's one of those inevitabilities you have to accept. Eventually, however, everything evens out.

quit complaining, you can't win 'em all.
If it makes you feel better, look at the last few time I have gotten pocket kings. I now fear kings when I see them.

If 20BB ($40) is really "a lot of friggin money" to you, then you don't belong at 1/2. Simple as that. Drop back down to .5/1 until you feel comfortable with losing this much money, because really, this is such a tiny amount of money compared to what some losing sessions will make you cop. If you can't handle even this, then you need to get out.

As others have pointed out, these aren't even "bad beats". The fact that you got dealt a high pocket pair does not entitle you to win. There are still 3 other streets to play. You're going to need much thicker skin to start moving up in limits if these sorts of hands make you flip out and post.

Those are just more or less tough luck situations. They happen at any limit. Make a note on the A7o guy and pop him next time. I really don't think there is much difference in skill levels between .5/1, 1/2 and 2/4. Play solid poker and you will win.

Hand 1: First, this is not a bad beat. Second, you should cap preflop.

Hand 2: This is not a bad beat since you should have folded preflop and had no business being in the hand in the first place.

You misplayed both hands. Sorry.
