I played the 3-card form many years ago in Alaska ("home game"). Quarters only so it was small pots but a fun game. We played some funny rule about your last draw was only one card, or no more than your pervious discard. It has been many years since I played and the rules we used are hazy now. Maybe this was a local variant. -Zeno |

Interesting. It might have been an attempt to avoid reshuffling the muck when too many players were in the hand. Or it might have been an attempt to prevent players from drawing three on the last roung and then showing down the nuts, an event that tends to send the table out of control.
