Get over yourself. You made obvious references and implications, people know history. They also probably actually read about these events, and therefore know that economic conditions causes looting, not race.

I personally think the race most associated with looting, plundering, stealing, enslaving, and so on are WASP's or at least "White Europeans"... can anyone disagree? Does it have any significance? Does this mean white people are bad? Are you an idiot? No, No, No, and Yes.

I've read in several places that the population of NO was about 2/3 black. So that's already a disproportionate number of people there. Add to that that blacks generally have less money and probably less of an ability to travel elsewhere. So if most of the people left in the city are black, it stands to reason that most of the looters would be black.

Are you sure about your 2/3rds figure? If so wow, I had no idea.

Anyways good post. At the same time do you know if the mostly white rural areas of Missippi and Alabama also saw similar instances of looting? Although perhaps it is unfair to compare rural and urban environments, I don't know.

one thing that I find silly is how offended people get when someone makes these type of statements or asks these questions.

These things need to be and should be discussed and if as most of us believe that race is not an inherent cause then these discussions will ultimately result in that truth coming to light.

I don't konw about the more white neighborhoods, but I would assume that many of them are either more towards the suburbs which won't have much stuff to loot and/or have mostly evacuated. I think the most shared characteristic of the looters would be mostly lower class. This makes sense to me because the lower class would have more to gain by looting, would be more likely to have not been able to evacuate, and more likely to be near urban areas where there would be stores to loot. That's my unprofessional opinion though, fwiw.

I saw some video on a newscast today of a bunch of people stranded in New Orleans waiting for busses. I swear, most of them were black. My conclusion was that, obviously, black people really like busses. Come to think of it, the other day I road on the L in Chicago. I noticed more black people than white people on the train as well. Maybe blacks just like mass transit.

That wasn't a personal attack. I came to the logical conclusion that you are an idiot. An attack would be to call you a name or ridicule you for something you couldn't control or wasn't apparently true. (like looting by members of a particular race)
