And that was exacerbated by the fact that it was an afternoon game, so people would have had to take off work.

And that was exacerbated by the fact that it was an afternoon game, so people would have had to take off work. [/ QUOTE ] There is no getting around the fact that Atlanta is a crappy sports town. But (1) maybe the quote above is correct, and (2) maybe people in less affluent areas of the country are fed up paying the jacked up prices for lousy playoff tickets and refreshments? |

10,000 unsold tickets yesterday. GMAB. The fans there are horrific. [/ QUOTE ] So's this team. It's important to note that many Braves fans are not in the immediate Atlanta area. |

Tonight is the GT-NCSU football game as well, so that'll keep some people away too. Still, there's not a lot of excuse if tonight isn't a sellout.

I would attribute this to them being smart rather than bad fans. Even their own cheering section knows this team has no chance of beating the Almighty 'Stros. I don't expect St Louis fans to be quite intelligent. They'll probably still come out not realizing their team is going to fall to Houston.

True. When I lived there in the mid 90's you could just walk up and get free div series tix and $10 NLCS tix. It was really nice for a broke grad student who loves the Braves. The mania had, even by '95, died down from '91-'92 by a long shot, but it was still pretty lively inside.
I don't think that in the 4 years that I lived there there was one sunday when falcons played at home that game wasn't blacked out. That said, when SEC football is going, 1/2 of atl. is on the road. |

The Knicks sold out 11 years in a row during Patrick Ewing's career so I'm not seeing the comparison.
