Re: Flushes don\'t get any worse than this

[ QUOTE ] but youre beat by 5dxd and up.. do you really want to bet your stack on the worst possible flush? (barring that 5d doesnt hit on the river) [/ QUOTE ] The whole point is that we do not think villain has a flush. Hero's flush is well disguised, so it is quite possible villain is making a play at the pot. You very rarely see a made flush play this way at these stakes. I would not be the least bit surprised to see villain have a set here with one diamond or some other hand that Hero has beat. [/ QUOTE ] i dunno.. just seems like we're killed here by a larger flush |

Take your medicine for not folding preflop, which you should have done. [/ QUOTE ] I was thinking about folding pre-flop. I'm trying to get out of the habit of playing drawing hands OOP against PFRs but that's clearly not working. |

Re: Flushes don\'t get any worse than this
In 25NL, you will very frequently see someone slowplay a hand like AA or TT here, bet a very small amount, and then throw their whole stack in the middle when they no longer have the best hand. A flush is possible, but this can just as easily be a slowplayed set or two pair. I think the element of doubt along with the way the whole hand played out makes me lean towards calling here.

Fold preflop. But I can't imagine ever folding this on the turn.

Re: Flushes don\'t get any worse than this
At 25NL it's pretty unlikely the villian is moving all in to make a play... they just don't think that way at this level. If the villian had a big flush... they usually sandbag/donkey raise it to try to get some value.
It's a LOT more likely that he has two pair or a set, I call, willing to lose a buy in knowing that if we played that hand on 10 separate occasions I'd be making good money. And moments like this is why you have a bankroll. |

Re: Flushes don\'t get any worse than this
Just curious, why are you playing 23s heads-up from the small blind? In my opinion this is the second worse possible hand there is for heads-up AND you are out of position for the entire hand.
Even with the suitedness, it is not a multiway pot to get flush or straight odds. |

Re: Flushes don\'t get any worse than this
My thinking was that it was a small raise with deepish stacks, which was a bad line of thinking and a clear leak in my game.

Re: Flushes don\'t get any worse than this
Not to nitpick but isn't 0.85 a pot sized raise in 25NL?

[/ QUOTE ] Even if you decide to play drawing hands OOP, make sure that they have maximum spread. Since you have 23s it severly reduces the chances of flopping a 15 out draw, which makes it even more of a fold. |

Since you actually played with this, you got the board you wanted, calling the all-in is your only option at this point. The good news for you is villain probably does not have the flush (yet). |
