What was your plan on the turn? If it was to CR, then I don't think you can let one raise turn a powerful move like this into a fold. I would call.
The thing about your line is that it looks a lot like AK. If you're going to cap for deception and then play the flop like this, then you have to assume the others put you on AK and thus that the button could easily have AQ, KQ or even something worse. I probably just three bet the flop and pound straight ahead until showdown. Hand two I like but hand three requires a really good read or something like an AF of .7 over hundreds of hands for the SB for me to drop so easily. Capping three ways preflop makes for a sizeable pot. |

[/ QUOTE ] I think this hand is less about my hand, and more about putting Button and the other villains on a range of hands. There is very little that I'm ahead of. I was kinda trying to get to showdown cheaply after getting raised on the flop and seeing Button's cold call. When he raised the turn, I evaluated a range of hands, decided I was behind anything close to reasonable, and folded. Now, after the fact, knowing that J9o is in his range of 3-betting hands preflop, and that he severely overplays postflop, I would take a different line. |

The point is that in putting them on a range you have to factor in the consideration that you've played your hand as if you have very little at this point. Yeah, knowing the preflop 3-betting range better is important. But so is understanding that the button has no reason to believe that you have such a strong hand. I'm not saying the fold was terrible, just that I wouldn't make it and that, probably more importantly, I would not put myself in that spot because I would have pounded the flop. Sometimes I think its best to just let people know that you are going to showdown and that they can come along if they want. Then if you get played back at after crossing a certain line in representing a real hand, you can reevaluate. |
