Default Conclusion...

well it seems statistical theory doesn't lie.

as your bb/100 goes up, so should your variance. you winning mid/high nl guys seem to have a very large variance (more so than at limit, which is counter to prevailing thoughts) and very high reterns.

so what is a PTBB? is it different than a big blind? or a big bet (2xbb)?

I always thought that the variance, per se, was bigger for NL, but risk/reward was lower so the RoR was less. No?

PT BB is 2x big blind (big bet in limit, 2x big blind in NL).

This month, my SD is at 50 BB/100 (25k hands of 3/6 and 5/10). Over my whole database of 100k hands, including about 30k at stakes under 2/4, I'm at 58 BB/100.

Edit: To get an approximately equivalent game, multiply the big blind of the NL game by about 4 or 5 and that will be the big bet of a limit game. If I wanted to do some math, I could figure something out of this.

Ok - my SD is 40 Big bets / 100 (at 5/10 ~ $800)

my winrate is roughly 10 Big bets / 100 (at 5/10 ~ $200)

I'm not sure how this would compare to limit - but as a thought experiment, assume I made the same rate but at 3 big bets / 100 for limit poker, so this would be roughly a 30/60 game. If my big bet SD was 15, then that would be $1000 / 100, which would be more than what I have at no-limit ($800 / 100). Also, 3BB / 100 at limit is probably a rate only single-tabling experts could attain, thus NL has much less variance. Make sense?

I think I am the winner... Standard Deviation of 66BBs/100. This may be affected by my recent loss of 7BBs in 1 day. I've played 23K+ hands and my BB/100 has dropped to a little over a measly 2BBs/100.

44BB/100 over 37k hands of 5/10 NL 6 max

Ask kanekungfu or strassa or GoG, to name a few.
