I will think he is an idiot of course. The only saving grace is that the ban probably won't get through congress before the sunset. At least I hope not. If it doesn't I want some regular capacity glock magazines for less than 100 ea. before the next democrat gets in

No viable presidential candidate is going to have reasonable views on gun control because reasonable views so scare the voting herd.

He'll still get my vote. And win in a landslide, you can count on that.

Well, offshore he's down to a -160/+140 favorite. That translates into a 60% chance of re-election. Far from a cinch.

His Dad pissed away a MUCH bigger lead than he's got now while closer to the election. Don't throw the re-election party just yet.

Well, you may be right. But... who's going to beat him? Dean? Kerry? Lieberman (probably the best man for the job as far as I can tell) , or Clark? BTW, what do you think of Clark's skipping the Iowa primary?

Hi Nepa:

Here's a few things about Lincoln:

Had no miliary experience.

Presided over more Americans being killed than any other President.

Freed the slaves only in those areas where his government had no jurisdiction.

Suspended many of our guaranted rights such as the writ of Habeous Corpus. (I hope I spellled that right.)

Brought Nevada into the Union when it didn't have enough population to qualify as a state since he needed another vote in Congress.

Allowed a corrupt draft system where wealthy men could buy their way out.

Encouraged the ruthless put down of riots in New York.

Refused to exchange prisoners which meant that Union soildiers would starve in Southern prison camps.

Allowed Grant to slaughter large portions of his army in an attmpt to win a big victory that would help his bid for reelection. (By the way, Sherman got that victory when Atlanta was captured.)

Was willing to let the South off too easy when the war was over.

Allowed his wife to spend government money like crazy and live a wild lavish life style wild the soildiers suffered in the field.

And most important, was extremely ugly.

Yet despite all of this, he is recognized as our greatest president and one of the greatest people who ever lived.

Best wishes,
mason

"First president in US history to unilaterally attack a sovereign nation against the will of the United Nations and the world community."

I don't think that's true.

Greetings, M.M. (Meteor Master)

I thought most of the attributes you posted about Lincoln were positive ones, actually! And proofs of character, as well.

Especially the one about the ugly wife.

Take care.
