[ QUOTE ]
You are probably trying too hard to win the pots you are in, without judging the relative strength of your hand. [/ QUOTE ] Good point. Often times the more you try to win, the deeper your hole becomes. Regards, T |

Basil,
You aren't the only one going through a downswing. I had a session just as bad as you over the last couple of days. Very discouraging. If I had KK someone had AA. I'd make a set and someone would draw out to a flush or a straight. One time I had QQ and 5 limped around to me pre-flop. I'm thinking I'm in good shape. Little did I know two had slow played AA and KK. Lost about 12BB on that one when the board came out with all cards J or lower. Keep at it and keep studying. |

The negatives (which are obvious):
1. 200BB in 3 days? That's a lot. That sounds like you're playing a LOT of poker; are you multitabling before you should? 2. The understandable frustration is probably leading you to try too hard, and you may be staying too long with too many hands. The positives: 1. You played the example hand fine, from my perspective. As many other replies have stated. 2. You're reading SSHE, indicating a serious approach to the game, and building a solid foundation. Your play on the example hand (e.g., the flop semi-bluff bet before you made the hand) is consistent with that assessment. 3. The bankroll increase from 2 to 50 upon immediately beginning play (when ostensibly you had even less skill and experience than you do now) is solid evidence of the fact that sometimes the luck runs YOUR way too (something not always sufficiently emphasized on these sites, or in the poker literature). Through your SSHE study and the experience you're gaining, next time you hit that run, you'll be even better able to capitalize on it than you did as a neophyte. Bottom line answer to your question: yes, you are probably playing poorly. BUT, we ALL did at first. And I suspect you're not playing as poorly as you did when you were winning (counterintuitive, but I'll bet that's the case). And you probably won't play as poorly tomorrow. Keep playing, reading, posting here. |

I just try to remember that these are the people who will eventually end up paying me back big time. Meanwhile I try to do what everyone has been telling you, I study my SSHE and all the hands I have played (up to 3300 now) with PT. Hopefully this downturn will end soon. Stay with it. Good things may come your way. |
