id bet like 30, Im pretty sure the card scared the villan and hes not trying to check raise.

You're going to have to explain this one to me.

Value-betting for less than 1/4 of the pot on the river with top set, when a flush just hit as well as a one-card straight?

I don't really like to take the inherent downside risk -- namely, your opponent pushing all-in and you missing out on a showdown -- for $30.

do you find that doing this put you in marginal situations where a raise from an aggressive villain leaves you confused as to whether villain really has a hand or is just attempting to pick up on your weak bet?

I think AK definitely comes along and maybe AQ.

not to be results oriented but the sheer fact that this guy opened for pot on the turn with AT should tell you something about how he would play AK, AQ.

It's a pot sized raise. And you have to get your value from underset/aces up now before river can kill your action.
