Re: Do I spend too much time on poker?
for me, poker is a job, bu tnot only that, it's a job I enjoy. I enjoy reading more, studying more, and improving my play, becuase I think poker is a beautiful game. I love the intricacy, and challenge.
For many people, poker is a hobby. For me it is a hobby, that I get paid to do. what could be better? No one looks down on someone who does crosswords as a hobby, or knits, or reads the newspaper. I enjoy my hobby, and love getting paid to enjoy it. |

Re: Do I spend too much time on poker?
great post Smurf. As an adult with a full time job, I still put a good bit of hours onto the table -- but I wouldn't do it if I wasn't making "x" amount of money per hour. I'm grateful that online poker wasn't available when I was in college. Let's face it, sometimes you don't want to hit the books and I think online poker would have been too enticing for me to avoid. Grades are important for those first couple of jobs. I also wonder if some college students who excel in poker are creating a -EV situation for themselves in the future -- missed opportunities, gaps in resumes, and perhaps for some, disatisfaction ten years down the road for choosing a career that, in my opinon, might make you feel empty.
