Re: Word association...
depends on the players and the situations.
against MOST players... i will almost certainly fold to the 3bet and raise AJ from EP. (I dont fold AT from here either though) i wasnt making a point in the actual actions with the hand, but rather the attitude involved in it. in much the same way that a player on tilt will say 'no because i would have made that play even if i wasnt tilted, i just got sucked out on'. so often you see players without confidence in their hands limp in with say AQo, you raise it with AJo and the flop rags out. they check, you bet, and with no regard whatsoever for your pfraising range, they will fold.... or call one and fold it on the turn. |

I'm having trouble deciding what to do with AJoff from first or 2nd to act. Are you raising this? I think I misplay AJoff a lot and I'd like to fix that leak. I fold AToff all day long from first or 2nd to act. And what do you do if someone 3-bets you PF and you hold AJ off? Thanks [/ QUOTE ] Search tool. Here are some other AJo hands from early position. 3) 72 off [/ QUOTE ] Oooh! Hammer! Raise! Raise! Seriously, it's funny how fast I've become attuned to 6-max - almost every response was "raise!" except for the 72 and 89 sooooted (if you're not going to spell it properly, at least include the extra o's). |

Re: Word association...
ok. grunch
1. raise (get it heads up) 2. fold (unless I spike a set Im guessing HU) 3. fold (unless I am 100% certain I can steal it in which case it dont matter what I have) 4. raise (cos im first in and my SSH chart says to jack it up) 5. fold (need more limpers) 6. raise it up (no overcards please Mr Dealer) Edit: ooh...apparently folding 44 HU is weak (reading other posts). I guess that means I dont like the myriad of overcards I will surely see....Im such a tighty....I suppose a visit to 6max should fix my "disease"....hehe |

I wasn't necessarily looking for "raise" fold", etc. but what comes to you mind. For instance when I get like KT off in the BB and UTG raises and 3 people cold call I'll call and immediately think "look for Jack, queen. I basically try to identify what the best flop for me would be and look for it. This is pretty obvious but I literally will say what I want to see that would give me OESD. If I hit my K or T, I'm not interested much in playing this multiway. As far as you say you are tight with 44. I agree. I think a 3-bet here is optimal. I've been doing this in the BB with mid pairs. I'll 3-bet, and either bet, or raise the flop no matter what falls. Chances are only 1 paint card will fall and it's slim that they hold that card in their hand. They usually call and check the turn UI, and I bet and they fold. I pulled this move on a guy the other night and it felt so sweet. EDIT: Of course as Sklansky would imply, it's dangerous to get involved in small pots with nominal hand but in this case you can still pick up a couple BB's if you are right. Plus it lets that guy know not to F with your blind anymore. I totally b*tchslapped this guy the other night with like 66 and he folded on the turn UI. He didn't attemt steal after that |
