Angels bullpen is [censored] up, cocaines one hell of a drug.

Anyway whats up with their bullpen, its not as advertised. They were cheated as badly as the Yankees where with Johnson.

The Yankees having the best offense in baseball probably has somethign to do with it.

Default Game 3 Thoughts

-You score 7 runs with your ace on the mound, and you can't win, well, that's pretty terrible. After all, they brought in Randy Johnson precisely to win such games in the post-season. Colon didn't pitch well in game one, but if the Angels had scored 7 they would have won. You have to give your team seven solid in the playoffs. There is no word for the Yankee pitching tonight except embarrassing.

-Harold Reynolds was wrong when he said Randy's problem was he was tipping his pitches. Joe Torre was half right when he said Randy had no location. Joe Morgan, of all people, was completely right when he said Randy's stuff was no good. His fastball was only 91-92 and he had no break on his slider.

-Why do players swing at the first strike when they're down by a bunch in the 8th or 9th inning? This I don't understand.

-When you're 22 or 32 and you look bad as often as Randy Johnson has this year, it's just a bad game. When you're 42, you start to wonder. Interesting that all the old guys--Johnson, Clemens, Wells, Wakefield--were less than stellar so far in the post-season.

-What the Yankees will do if Chacon is off tomorrow is anyone's guess. I guess they'll have to try Small again. If I'm Torre, I wouldn't hesitate to bring in Rivera in the [i]7th[/7] if need be. Tom Gordon kept up his resume: pitch great during the year and sucky in the playoffs. What's with all the junk? Throw the heat until they show you they can hit it, Tom.

-If somehow the Yankees win tomorrow, I'd go with Wang as my first man out of the pen on Sunday.

-Angels were again the far better team tonight.

i'm worried about game 4. Chacon was shakey in his relief start last weekend in boston. not to mention, washburn is a beast on the road.

p.s. mother nature. [censored] you. time for another beer.

How 'bout telling him to take a strike before he goes up to the plate?

Default Re: Randy who?

Come on, did no one see this coming?

Johnson is 2-7 in the ALDS.
The Angels are a fastball-hitting team. Pitchers like Tim Wakefield give them trouble. Not Randy Johnson. (Well, let's just say fastball pitchers in general)

Angels are a lot better than most people think.

And their bullpen IS as advertised - granted, Donnelly has had an off-year, but look at their season stats. Let's see what other contender can lose their HOF, long-time reliever and not skip a beat...

I'm just wondering which Jarod Washburn is going to show-up tomorrow....Kinda hoping they'd start Santana instead....

yeah, i was pissed off about this. even i know not to swing at that first one. rookie mistakes cost us, though, without cano, we may have been joining the sawks tonight instead of tomorrow or monday.
