time is good way to handicap. give a gm 30 sec's or a min, and you get 30 or 60 min. I think Dzindzikhashvili used to do sht like that in Wash Square Park (except more like 10 or 20 secs vs 10 min).

Even a GM couldn't beat a halfway decent player in 10 to 20 seconds

You see this is where you're wrong. I recently played the whiz kid Magnus Carlsen in a Norwegian "team flash" competition. He had 30 seconds, I had 9 minutes, 30 seconds. I didn't know what hit me. The deal is, he sees things so quickly he doesn't need to think on his own time, instead he thinks while my time is running (to the extent he needs to think while playing me).

You all may think I suck at chess, but I don't. I'm no GM but I guess I'm around FIDE 1800-1900 rating. The GM's are just that good.

[/ QUOTE ]

No offence, but ICC rating 1900 is not even close to FIDE 1900 or Norwegian 1900.
ICC:s rating system is deeply inflated and fuked up.
Most of the 2600 Fide Gms who plays there got well above 3000 ICC rating there
I had 2600-2750 when I played there and Im only a FIDE 2250 player.

Rc8.

as far as a draw is concerned: im at least 2 points up in material, i have a strong passed pawn, and as far as i can see you have no momentum to make up for it. perhaps im missing something?

I think id have to make some kind of terrible mistake for this to be a draw, but we can play it out if you like.

I'm not saying I'm even close to a FM in playing strength, and I'm not sure exactly how much FIDE rating I'd have. But I didn't mean the icc rating when I said 1900, although that is roughly where I'm at

Anyway, the point isn't my rating, but that I know how to play some, and the GM still crushed me
